Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale (born 2nd April 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She plays for Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a college basketball player with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, before being drafted by the Wings with the fifth overall selection in the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale's father and mother Yolanda Ogunbowale & Gregory Ogunbowale were born March 2nd 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. There are two brothers: Mario (26 and 26 years older) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). As the youngest family member, her parents provided her with the best treatment. Gregory, Gregory's father, served with the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a family that has ties to the sporting world. Her mother Yolanda was a softball coach at DePaul while her brother Dare used to be a footballer. Her aunt Endia Oliver was a Volleyball player at Tennessee State and her niece was a former volleyball player at UAPB. Ogunbowale has been on the school honour roll for three consecutive years. She also received recognition for her achievements in high school and received numerous awards. Arike graduated from high school education at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School situated in her hometown. When she was at school, she also participated in three years of varsity football. Ogunbowale led her team to stunning victories with her extraordinary skills numerous times. She compiled her high school record with 73 career starts and has a total of 1,477 points and 739 rebounds. Ogunbowale was a participant in the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championships 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championships which she took home gold medals. This year's USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team was announced on the 7th July 2014. Ogunbowale also has been named on the ACC All-Freshman Team after her first season as a collegiate player.
